June 21 Deadline to List Your Accommodation Registration Number

Wednesday, June 14, 2023

Tourist accommodations in Nova Scotia have until Wednesday, June 21 to include 2023-24 registration numbers in their listings on platforms like Airbnb, Expedia, Vrbo, TripAdvisor and Booking.com.

Under the Tourist Accommodations Registration Act, all short-term rentals in Nova Scotia are required to register with the Tourist Accommodations Registry each year. Changes to the regulations that took effect April 1 require accommodations that sell through online platforms to include their registration number in their listings.

Accommodations that do not include their 2023-24 registration number in their listings by June 21 will be in violation of the Act and Regulations.  You could face fines of up to $7,500 and your listings could be removed from online platforms.

Operators should contact accommodations platforms directly if they are unsure how to post their registration number.

You must also ensure your accommodation is registered by June 21 to remain listed on NovaScotia.com.
